Dear Parents/Guardians, Staff and Community,

I hope you are all looking forward to the second half of the school year as much as I am! QCA has accomplished so much in just a few short months! First, our Middle States visit went very well and we are expecting to hear positive results in the spring.

Secondly, QCA’s clubs are thriving and becoming quite successful. Homework club has been helping our students succeed and excel in their academics. Glee Club shined at their performance as part of the Winter Concert. The school newspaper published its first issue this year and we started instrumental band, Gymnastics, and Scrabble Clubs while Soccer Club and Sister-to-Sister/Brother-to-Brother are in full swing! Student Council, H.O.P.E. Club, and NEHS/NJHS have taken great initiative and completed two community service projects. Together, all three ran a canned/toy/coat/shoe drive to benefit members of the community that are in need.

Last summer, QCA was one of nine schools in New Jersey to be awarded the Rutgers/NJ Department of Agriculture, Grow Healthy grant. This two year mini grant allows us to promote fruit and vegetable consumption through fun interactive lessons taught by Mrs. Williamson, our Health teacher, QCA parents and Rutgers faculty. We also have food tasting, healthy cooking classes and will be growing our own vegetables. I am really looking forward to the Spring, as the children will be able to “get their hands dirty” gardening and really being a part of this exciting endeavor.

Our school takes non-violence seriously! We celebrated Non-Violence Awareness week and will continue with offering Bullying Prevention Workshops to our Students, Parents, and Staff! We will continue putting Bullying to Bed as we teach our students how to interact, stand up for themselves, and handle stressful situations. We encourage all of our community members to visit our school and get to know us!

Your communication with us is very important, too. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher, or me, whenever you have a question or concern.

Thank you for your support.

Professionally yours,

Mrs. Theresa A. Radline, Chief Academic Officer/Director
